Frequently Asked Questions

When will a film's run start?

Our main films play week-to-week Friday through Thursday. Every Monday we determine what new films will start on Friday, what current films will end on Thursday, and what current films will continue through Friday for another week. All films are subject to this week-to-week decision making process. We try to play all of our Main Attraction films as soon as possible.

After we decide on Monday (Tuesday at the latest) what new films will start on Friday, we immediately let you know on our website and our hotline.

We'll send you an email message every Tuesday as to what is coming and going on Friday. (Sign for for our e-mail list HERE.)

Why do some films play for so long?

If we move on from a film that is doing well, its distributor won't give us their films as readily (or at all) in the future. We try to keep the films coming to you at a constant rate, but every once in a while we seem to get stuck. It's a little frustrating. But be patient, more good films are coming soon!

Why we're Nonprofit

The Ambler Theater is a nonprofit 501(c)3 community-owned theater. And it's one of a precious few remaining hometown art-deco movie theaters.

As a nonprofit we do many additional things like historic restoration, special programming, and educational outreach. Our operations are driven by cultural and educational values. (With our Board of Directors keeping a sharp eye on the bottom line, of course.)

Being a nonprofit also allows us to accept tax-deductible contributions to help us accomplish our mission.

The Ambler Theater is owned and operated by Ambler Theater, Inc., a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation.
