About the Fashion: Styled by costume designer Marilyn Vance, the clothing in The Breakfast Club sports stereotypical ‘80s teens fashion. Director John Hughes and Vance purposefully dress each of the five characters to their archetypes – the Jock (blue hoodie, Nike tank top), the Brain (plain knit sweatshirt, trainers), the Basket Case (baggy black layers), the Princess (Ralph Lauren inspired midi skirt, knee high boots), the Criminal (denim jacket, plaid shirt, biker boots, and earring). As the film progresses and the characters grow closer to one another, they begin to shed their layers and modify their looks.
